Irish Born Chinese

Should there be a Chinatown in Dublin?

Way back, I was always jealous of other countries with their Chinatowns, but it doesn't mean I wasn't excited when I visit London and its Chinatown when I was younger.

Apparently there was a debate about setting up a Chinatown in Dublin (around Parnell Street) yesterday. First of all, most of the places I go to now are along Capel Street, it use to be Parnell Street. Second of all, setting up a Chinatown doesn't mean pointing to a location and set it up just because it has a small community of Chinese people with businesses there, it has to come from an area that has grown organically. If there was a cultural Chinese area/quarter, I would rather see this around Capel Street. It doesn't have to have a big showy-off Chinese gate like the older Chinatowns.

An area where people can go and buy their Chinese groceries, get their news, have dim sum, learn martial arts, have a Chinese school, etc., that would be nice.

What do you think?
