Drivers will be hit by a series of new penalty point offences from next month.
These include a five-point penalty for driving without a certificate of road worthiness and five points for driving a dangerously defective vehicle.
There will also be a three-point penalty for driving a car without fixing a fault uncovered by the NCT.
Those caught will also have to appear in court and face fines as well as points.
The new points take effect from May 1.
