Chinese Radio in Dublin

Chinese Language Talkshow: Wednesday 20:30 – 21:00 & Sunday 9:00 – 10:00 on Annalivia FM103. Producer and presenter Mr Oliver Wang.

I have not tuned in before, but I think it's Mandarin.

yes its in Mandarin. They are also hosting the chinese karaoke night on the 28th, im the only irish person in the show

Where are they holding the Chinese Karaoke night?? It sounds like a radio shw that's been there for a while because I used to know a lady that did a show a while back who used to sing, they even did an article about her in the paper!

the show will be on in the Kingston hotel, Dun laoghaire. on the 28th. This radio show is by a man called Oliver Wang and he does everything on the show so I think maybe its not the same as the one you are talking about, but now Im intrested, is there another chinese talk show on the radio???

You need to buy tickets to go to the show, they cost 10 euro, you can get them on Moore street in Dublin in a resturant called Zhong Guo Wu, 1st floor. You can also buy them from the central ticket Burea in Dublin, I dont know the Number Sorry.

I just finished recording my CD today with the other 9 singers, but I think today I sounded terrible, my mouth was very dry.....

I know that 12 people are singing on it and last night they played 5 songs on the radio, mine was 1 of them , a chinese boy texted in and said my singing for the song 'shi nian' was "Too good, Better than mine." I dont really belive that but I was happy to hear it. The CD will be finished on Sunday and I think they will give it to some people who come to the show. Another 7 songs will be played sunday morning at 9:00 on fm103.2
so listen out, but I think it might be a dublin only radio channel, not sure;

its all in madarin chinese, it has songs like 'shi nian' , 'an xiang' and some Wong fei songs. I had to go trough the radio show, I had to sing over the phone, about 40 people got trough to round 2 which used the karaoke room in Hao wang jiu(resturant). Everyone sang 1 song and 5 judges gave marks to each person, only 12 people could go to the final show. If you made it, Oliver would give you a phone call and ask you to meet him with the other people in the studio to record the CD. We got photo's taken for the CD yesterday, 95% of the time everyone only speaks chinese to me, I have to really listen hard, then that night we went to the karaoke place to practise our songs it was fun.

oh wow hey if there are any more competitions you should post them up here on the site and we'd be able to notify lots and lots of people!! Wish i could do it but I'm crap at mandarin, and my cantonese is quite petty.
I hear alot of people are going tonight though, my Dad is going to spectate and so is the owner of Asia Market I hear.

ok, no problem and thanks, Im getting ready, I have to practise and I was told 3 days ago to learn a new song that maybe everyone will sing together at the end of the night. So I must learn this also.

Well its over, It was a good night with lots of good singers, RTE and BBC covered the event. I won a mini Hi-Fi system for my singing and was invited to dinner by the main man from the chinese embassy in Dublin.

Did anyone hear if other people enjoyed the night? The audiance left very fast after the show so I had no chance to find out.

Hahaha yeah seemingly it was good!! Although I believe there was a big group of people going out after to play mahjong that's why they all left so quick hehehehehe!!

Hi All. The 2006 Chinese Karaoke is on again. This time its in the city center, Templebar music center to be exact, on the 28th of this month, 7 o'clock. I wont be singing this year but it should be fun and a few canto speakers should be there.

I would love to do my own radio show in Cantonese. My plan is a Hong Kong style radio show, don't know if anyone ever listens to Hong Kong radio. Radio in Hong Kong is totally different from any radio in Ireland and the UK. Radio in Ireland and the UK is very bland compared to Hong Kong. Even if I have my own radio show, audience is a big problem as the vast majority of Chinese in Ireland are Mandarin speakers so a Cantonese show may not have the audience.
